The Apothecary served local customers, including the Washingtons and Robert E. Lee, between 1792 and 1933. The shop was transformed into a museum shortly after its closing and visitors can still view the original ingredients, products, and documents left behind by this 141-year-old family business.

This pharmacy is still exactly the same as the day they closed it more than 80 years ago. Shop on the ground floor and the manufactury on the first floor can be visited. There is a guide tour of 25 minutes. It starts at a quarter after and before the hour. It costs only $ 5. Interesting! The wife of... 更多

The tour is docent lead and it's an interesting place to see. Most of the original materials are intact so there are jars of some amazing things that were medicinal in the past.

Whether your interest is Revolutionary or Civil War history or learning about the origins of medications - this is an interesting stop in the beautiful historic area of Arlington. The docent had a wealth of knowledge and a joy in presenting the source of many of our modern medicines as well as delving into such concoctions as dragon's blood and... 更多

Enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. Fascinating look at 18th century medicine. Definitely worth the visit. Even my teenagers enjoyed it! Buy the City Pass if you plan to visit more than one museum in the area. Not all of the museums sell it, but this one does. Well worth the money.

When this museum first opened it was my very favorite in the area. I have visited over the years, but my last visit in February was very disappointing. The tour no longer goes upstairs, where old superstitious markings are on the wall as well as a turkey talon. The docent was not was focused on her script and did not... 更多

Very interesting museum that is a moment in time that has been suspended for nearly 100 years. Worth seeing what an operating pharmacy from 18-19th Century looked like. Martha Washington's receipt for medicinals is on display. There is also a lovely gift shop that costs nothing to shop and buy! The tour takes about 30-40 minutes and is worth a... 更多

This is an amazing time capsule and a true window into the operation of a drug-manufacturing business. The tour takes about 30 minutes. It starts in the shop where you can see bottles and jars containing a wide variety of tinctures and oils. You learn a lot about the early days of medications in the US and about the way... 更多

See what they used to use back in George's time. Lots of stuff still there, probably some of the same herbs. Knowledgeable docents. INteresting old building. Nothing like it. I'm a local, finally stopped in when the tour was free. I'd highly recommend it, especially for anyone into gardening, herbs, drugs, medicine.

This was an interesting little museum with all the fixtures and medicine bottles intact as left by the owners. The tour was very informative and not expensive. Would not really recommend for children despite promoting Harry Potter connection to the potions - this is definitely not a hands on experience - quite the opposite with frequent reprimands if hands touched... 更多

We enjoy touring apothecaries ... be it Williamsburg or London, wherever. These treasures reveal intriguing history. This is a fun not quite hands on approach to learning ... Good way to spend an hour. Michelle was our tour guide and we enjoyed our tour. Earlier in the day we walked the Limited Attics and Alleys Tour, which included a behind... 更多
