This was a great place to go to get a look at the past. From the development of the houses to the stories explaining tidbits of info about how things were done in the past. There are livestock, horses, ponies, chickens and rabbits about but no feeding allowed for safety reasons. It was very hot! So like another review suggested... 更多

Not only do you get to see how people lived before AC and electricity, but you get try your hand at making butter, learn to sew, and many other fun and informative workshops available to attend. Authentic homes with people who not only just work there, but they "live" the life of those from the past. Complete in period costumes... 更多

You can easily tour the grounds in a morning or afternoon, but then there's no hurry either! The buildings and grounds provide a firsthand look at life in Texas over the years. The site is laid out nicely and is user friendly. When you're there, you can understand why one church has its annual Easter sunrise service on the grounds.

My fiance and I had an interesting experience at Pioneer Farms. The staff/volunteers were very friendly and knowledgeable about the time period depicted, the families who lived in the homes, and Austin, TX in general. The farm had a collection of period carriages which was interesting; one of which President T. Roosevelt rode in! Unfortunately, the blacksmith was not in... 更多

We visited last Sunday and had the best experience. So much to see and animals to visit- it is a self tour and to go as fast or slow as you like. There was a blacksmith demo happening which was super fun. The Donkeys were the highlight of the day for my 3 yr old grandson - he named them... 更多

It was neat to see the homes through the years. You literally had homes all together where you could start at the earliest built and move through the years.

I took my 3 grandsons, ages 4, 6, and 8 and they enjoyed it. There were no costumed interpreters and some of the buildings needed sweeping ( enough trash in one house to mar the exhibit), but we enjoyed looking at the buildings, explaining what an outhouse, a cellar, and a smokehouse were used for. The carriages were especially nice... 更多

The site gives a rare view in to the early life of the settlers. From a one room shack to a sophisticated house. I would say it is well worth a visit for a history buffs.

We wanted to see what this was all about. The carriage display was very informative and very well maintained. My understanding is that this is a "Living History Museum". There were volunteers in period dress at various locations, and they were happy to provide details about life in this time period. There is livestock there as well. Bring water, it... 更多

Although I appreciate the gargantuan effort it must be to try and preserve a piece of Texas history with just a volunteer work force, this place is a bit disappointing. The entry fee is pricey-especially since it's a self-guided tour and whether you see any 'working' volunteer is hit or miss. Most of the houses are locked and delapidated, but... 更多
