It really depends on your interest. It is an incredible museum, with unique structures and landscape. Unfortunately, if you go on your own most of it is only in Russian. But, they have people in the more important buildings to explain their importance and how awesome they are. I also took the bus there, and it was a great experience... 更多
Even though I live in Arkhangelsk for over 20 years, but regularly-at least twice a year to visit family and this wonderful place! Nature, fresh air, beauty, great holidays and excursions.
Vast territory, many exibits or wooden houses, wind mills, churches, barns etc. These exibits were collected from Arkhangelsk region and carefully installed here. Give at least 3-4 hours for this museum, it's worth it!
the Soviets did one thing right in the region - they saved old buildings by bringing them to the museum. It is a truly fantastic place to explore history, especially, if you are into architecture.
our guide was very friendly and all of us found the visit interesting and informative. in case of bad weather you need to get appropriate shoes
we manage to came this december by the time everything was covered by snow, a beautiful old building,church and nice to meet local people and hear the story how they live there in the past time, worth place to see..definitely want to come here again one day in summer/autumn...
A huge open air Museum with wooden buildings brought from all over Russia and reconstructed for display. We only managed to see a quarter of the Museum but it is really worth the drive in the suburbs of the city.
Again, if you are in Arkhangelsk, then, please, do your best to find, at least, 3-4 hours in your schedule to visit this museum. You will receive a short guidance on architecture of our ancestors in almost whole Arkhangelsk region. Wood used to be and still is our main wealth.
The buildings in this open air museum were a revelation. They have been well reconstructed in a beautiful setting. The onion domed church in the centre piece and is beautiful. Instead of the usual Russian multi-coloured or gold decorations the roof is covered in simple shingles. We learned so much about farm life in the area and had a wonderful... 更多
