The central part of the exposition includes clothes, documents, photographs, "voices" of witnesses from the collections of dozens Russian museums, associated by the GULAG's history. The map of USSR with marked points of labor camps, camp administration and the amount of prisoners in different periods displays the geographical length and broadness of the exhibition. Anyone that happens to be in Moscow just go to this museum. It's a very modern museum, with videos playing and a lot of the informations are in English. A "must go" to any history lovers and everyone that has curiosity about the socialist regime in URSS. It makes you to stop and think how many people were killed just... 更多

IMPORTANT NOTE: As of today (Jan 23, 2016) the location shown in the map-link in Tripadvisor is wrong. The address is correct (1st Samotechny lane), but the map points to the old museum location. And then my review: It is still very difficult to comprehend how a nation can ever evolve into such cruelty, where personal lifes matter so little.... 更多

The history of the Gulags is very sobering. The mass incarceration of people without proper trials is scary to read about. The museum has many artifacts and is in an atmospheric building. There are plenty of signs in English too which is not a given at all Russian museums.

This is a very well done musuem. There are Russian and English signs, as well as audio guides available. It is well organized to help with the flow of visitors, with a wide variety of exhibit types. It was especially powerful to see videos of GULAG survivors sharing their stories, and to see the personal items found in the prisons.... 更多

This is a modern and well-curated museum, I recommend it to anyone interested in this period of soviet history. However, as a Russian, I found it emotionally hard to go through all the collection. It is just too sad to see what the regime did to several millions of mostly ethnic Russian people.

I've visited this museum twice, and I can't wait to go again. Though the museum isn't all that big, I'd allot a minimum of three hours: partly to really immerse yourself in the dark, stirring atmosphere of the place, and partly to give yourself time to absorb the horrifying, heartbreaking, and sometimes very inspiring firsthand accounts played in video segments... 更多

The location of the museum has changed---we went to the original location (based on current street signs) and a guard at the old location building handed us a slip of paper with the new address. We took the metro to the nearest stop, thinking there would be signs to guide us to the location. Not so---but after asking several shop... 更多

We knew only a little about the gulags so it was worth visiting this museum. It will deepen your understanding of this particularly dark period of Russian history that was perpetrated by Stalin. You can get through it all in about one hour.

Since last year this museum is working in a new location! The adress is this one that Trip Advisor tells us, but when you put it in the map directly from this app it leads you to the former location. Look in another map and you will find it! And is was really worthy! Nice building, and a really good... 更多

If you want to understand Russian history you should visit this museum. It has a good history with various items which help explain the Gulag and its part of Russian history.

在特维尔大街的住宿

周围地区详细资料
特维尔大街
Tverskaya can’t be discovered with just a first glance, the neighborhood is shaped around a long street populated with well-known shops and brands. But it’s more than shopping that makes this place interesting. Take a few steps into the streets running parallel to the main artery to discover the charm just behind the mighty Stalinist style architecture. Comfy European pedestrian streets Bolshaya Dmitrovka or Stoleshnikov lane are a great place to start. Locals can be found here working, eating, shopping, resting and going to the Bolshoi Theatre in the evening.
