This house tour provides an excellent look back into the history of the area, as well as a connection to national politics and the acquisition of Alaska. Seward was a US Senator, NYS governor and Secretary of State under Lincoln. Our guide provided an excellent tour of the house, its history and artifacts, the history of the family, and Seward's... 更多

We all liked this museum. Our guide had a ton of knowledge and was really easy to relate to. Amy told fun and interesting stories about William Seward and his family. It was reasonably priced and well worth the time we spent there. My 4 teens enjoyed it too. We all learned a lot.

The tour of the house mixes family gossip with history for the perfect mixture. The tour guide we had, an intern, was very knowledgeable and transmitted his excitement for the house. The house itself is not beautiful but it's history makes up for its lack of grandeur. Definitely recommend this house.

The most remarkable thing about the Seward House Museum is the true authenticity of the house. The building was home to William Seward between 1851 and 1872 and remained in the Seward family until 1951 when it was made into a museum. Fortunately, the Seward family were pack rats and as a result almost all of the furniture, artwork and... 更多

The house and tour are well worth a visit. Much of the interior is as it was in Seward's time. Lots of items from his world tours and gifts from heads of state. We did a general tour but they also schedule and hold special theme tours, e.g abolition.

What an awesome experience! A nearly 100% intact historic home and a real piece of American history! The only thing that ticked me off a bit was the tour guide's mention of a daughter who died as an infant, and therefore "didn't matter because she never did anything notable". Very crude comment...

Decorated to reflect the times of William Seward's ownership and occupation, this is a treasure that you should not miss. Each room in the mansion is well-detailed to reflect Seward's time and those of his corresponding family. During Christmas holidays, the staff will give guided candelit tours in period costume and be in character, something that if you've timed your... 更多

The Seward House is amazing. He was a very influential man in our countries history. His books, writings, correspondences, personal belongings are all there. He was very close with President Lincoln and there are quite a few personal items as well.

If you have an interest in American history, this is a crucial stop if you are in central New York. William Seward, 19th century mover and shaker, inherited this house from his father-in-law when he married the boss's daughter. Kept in the family for generations, one can see genuine antiques that the Sewards owned. You can learn more about the... 更多
