You are so high on the hilltop you can see "forever." The temple is great and the stadium is pretty amazing if you climb down from the top. This was our first stop on the 7 churches tour we drove ourselves. A little hard to get there, you can take a gondola ride up to the top (for a fee)... 更多
If you are in Turkey, you must take the time to see the ruins of Pergamum. The millennia and weather and earthquakes have taken their toll on this historic site but you can still see the ibrancy of what this site once was.
Pergamum is beautiful with its beautiful columns and amphitheater, which could seat over 10,000 people. It is situated on a steep incline and overlooks the city of Bergama. The site itself is excellent. You can reach it by elevator or by a small, steep road if you are brave enough. Several paths take you through the ruins where lovely trees... 更多
We finally made the climb to this site. Should have taken the gondola. Well worth the visit. Quite a lot of people there on the day we went.
Well worth the trip, due to its height is accessed by cable car (15TL pp) and quite literally awesome to see the spectacular ancient city constructed on top of a mountain. Good to visit in May & October, might be too hot in July & August. If you are on a sightseeing trip eg to include Asclepion, Ephesus, Pamukkale may... 更多
It was amazing to take the funicular to the Acropolis which is located high above the contemporary town of Bergama in Turkey. The rocky site also overlooks beautiful Kestel Baraji lake. The ruins are Greek and Roman and date to before the 2nd century BC (I think), and are very evocative. Among the most well known are the Temple of... 更多
Our guide said that this is her favorite archaeological site. Having seen it, I can see why. It has a spectacular location on the top of a mountain. Very hot in the summer, but well worth seeing.
Pergamum is yet another Incredible Ruins Site, it has it's own amazing structures and features as with all the ruins we have seen throughout Turkey. The difference between this site and the others throughout Turkey is it's location on the hilltop above the town of Bergama, it's a difficult walk and you need to be very careful when walking down... 更多
This partially restored hilltop town overlooks the town of Bergama, from which it is reached. A cable car (15 TL pp) takes you to the ticket office.(25 TL pp) The site is quite extensive and has been laid with wooden walkways to make the going easier. The theatre is particularly impressive, steeply raked down the hillside. Also worth looking at... 更多
Pergamum is an architectural marvel considering its steep hilltop location and the several ancient structures which stand upon it today, albeit in ruins (most of the remnants of the city can be found in the Pergamum Museum in Berlin, Germany). Gorgeous views, an incredible theatre and a very fascinating history. A must see.
