Wellesley Island is another must see if you visit the 1000 Islands. You will be amazed of the abundance of outstanding Victorian architecture.
What a beautiful island. It is so much bigger than I ever thought it would be, even when looking at its size on the map. There are several state parks and beautiful scenic drives. Not much to do on the island itself if you are not camping, fishing, hiking, or boating. If that's what you're here to do, then Wellesley... 更多
We went to Wellesley Island because we could drive there over the bridge. It's in the USA (we didn't have passports so we couldn't visit any Canadian islands. We had heard that there were lots of gingerbread houses there, so we decided to visit on our way back to Alex Bay after visiting Sacket's Harbor on Lake Ontario and Clayton.... 更多
The island is beautiful but not much to do but camp. Saw only one corner store/convenient store and gas station. Unless you wanted to ride a bike or go for a walk (which is a pretty pricey walk to pay for), stay on the Alexandria side of the bridge, or go into Clayton.
I have come here since I was 10 months old...that's a lot of years and memories. The campground is so well taken care of and the people are amazing. The camp store has great ice cream as well as anything else you may need. There is a beach for swimming and/or relaxing. Boat rentals, great fishing and hiking. Doesn't get... 更多
Come to Wellesley Island for a relaxing day of sightseeing, or relaxing on the beach. The state park is inexpensive, and was not crowded when we went there.
I have enjoyed coming to Wellesley Island since I was a kid with my family. It seems simple enough but it is a beautiful spot to find peace and quiet. The DeWolf Point State Park is one that I hope to get an opportunity to stay in upon one of my future visits...Simply Superb!
Drove over to the island to spend the day and it was a wonderful experience. The bride toll from the mainland was $2.75 which includes the return trip and entrance into the state park was $7.00 but well worth it. Park your vehicle and take a walk around and view the beauty of the area. If you are camping there... 更多
We camped on Wellesley Island and it is a beautiful park with many amenities. The beach is very nice although there are too many rules, such as no masks or snorkels, no splashing and no throwing balls. The campground has some of the most beautiful sites. I do wish there could be a few waterfront sites with electric.
