If some someone is planning to trek up Mt Oldonyo Lengain, unless they are fit/prepared, they need at least two days. In addition, they need to understand they are hiking up a steep grade with volcanic soils that give way – not easy; I know from experience elsewhere. Of the six people that tried while we were there, only one... 更多
I've just returned from a multi-day safari with Steve and Beno and it was a fantastic experience! They were very flexible in the schedule, and worked hard to keep prices under control. I will certainly recommend them to freinds wanting to go on safari. Thank you!!
We started our climbing at midnight and luckily me and the guide were the only people doing the mountain that night. Lets be honest, after our 3 days trekking through Maasai Land the climb was really tough for me. We took a total of 9 hours to do the mountain. 6 hours to climb up and 3 to come down... 更多
We climbed Ol Doinyo Lengai in June 2015 as part of a University of Glasgow geological expedition to the area. There was fifteen of us from Glasgow, plus Tanzanian students and staff climbing the volcano, so we set out early (approx. 10.00pm) with head torches to give ourselves plenty of time. The climb is good on the way up, as... 更多
A fantastic climb, with stunning views...but don't underestimate it! Certainly a challenge!!! The volcano dominates the view from Engare Sero, where we were based for 12 days of geological fieldwork. The area is beautiful and provided us with plenty to look at, from the geology to the wildlife. We were fortunate to interact lots with the locals too, which only... 更多
Was really interesting but challenging! But -I mean- you can climb an active volcano! You begin around midnight with climbing and see the sunrise at the summit.
Climbed Ol Doinyo Lengai with 15 people, 2 staff and 13 students from Glasgow University. All made it to the top, but it is a very hard hike. We started out early, because not everybody was top fit. Started at around 10 pm and hiked through the night. Up at around sun-rise. Some eruptions within the creator at the moment,... 更多
This climb is by far the hardest thing i've ever done in my life but the most fulfilling... Take a lot of water with you and get protection against ash.. It is really a tough climb and not for everyone.. I would also recommend you do the hike to the waterfall as well nearby..
Don't be fooled by those who climbed Ol Doinyo Lengai years ago into thinking that it is a doddle. Following the eruption a few years ago it is hard work and very slow. We tried to climb it on our last day, and with kids which was a mistake. We did not make it to the top, but had a... 更多
One of the most impressive sights in Tanzania when suddenly the volcano-peak appears in front of you as you drive along the Embakaai crater-rim.
