Fascinating, eclectic and very enjoyable exhibit of seldom seen items from the museum's collection. A wonderful combination of history and art. And the written descriptions accompanying each piece were terrific. We took advantage of the free admission on Thursday evenings (5-8pm) and had no trouble parking in the onsite lot.
The Institute is a wonderful place that offers something for young and old. I highly recommend TAKE THE GUIDED TOUR. It's well worth it for historical insight you get from the educated professionals that share their passion and knowledge of artifacts and art.
A lovely pause from the heat in a cool well curated small museum with permanent and specia exhibits. Personnel is very nice. Certainly worth one hour in your day in Albany. Do not leave without having a cappucino and a piece of cake at the cafe. Wonderful!
This is an Albany must-see. They have a great collection of art and rotating art located near the Capitol. Nice little cafe and gift shop as well.
A little gem in Albany. The collection of Hudson River School was impressive and the two rooms of Egyptian artifacts kept hubby memorized for quite some time. Two mummies and a beautiful sarcophagus, lots of other interesting artifacts. Very friendly staff, very quiet museum (for a Saturday afternoon). Unbelievable price right now .... $2.25 per person on Saturdays to celebrate... 更多
The Institute is an absolute delight. Excellent collections. Claim that this is the best Hudson River collection is surely true -- and almost all of the paintings are in splendid condition. Also, remarkable other exhibits ranging from odd (but oddly impressive as well) Egyptian to superb works on paper. Don't miss this one. Also, a sweet coffee shop.
While I enjoy the historical displays, I am particularly impressed by their collection of Huson River School paintings od Nature. A very eclectic place with something fpr everyone.
Imagine finding a spacious and comfortable attic filled with curated stuff from generations. This might be how a visitor would feel discovering this delightful and treasure filled museum. The story of this historic area of NYS is told through objects, paintings and odd bits of the past, present and future. The museum feels intimate perhaps because so many artifacts come... 更多
We took advantage of the $2.25 admission on a Saturday in 2016 (to celebrate the 225th anniversary) and had a blast. The mummy exhibit was a favorite but the temporary exhibit about the 50 objects through Albany's history was fascinating. It was fun to learn more about things we have seen for years, like the dog statue Nipper. We will... 更多
