The old part of this town, where the artists' shops are located is quite charming, as are the old synagogues. But the town generally is very run down and dirty. It could do with some volunteers to clean it up.
Our group stopped in Tzfat during an 11-day non-religious tour of Israel. We first visited an art store before visiting the Rabbi Yosef Karo Synagogue. The building itself is unremarkable since it was originally built as a house of learning and not a synagogue.
