Papanasam or ' get rid of your sins' by bathing here according to local lore. The beach is about 5 mins away from the temple and has good sands. The beach needs to be cleaned more often but the sands are nice to sit and relax in evenings.
They say a dip in these waters will cleanse your souls. I dont know about that but i enjoyed the cliff view and a dip in the beach below the next day. If you are with friends this is a great way to unwind with walking street around.
This beach is a place where pooja is held for the departed souls from very early morning itself. Evening sunset is superb and the shallow beach is very enjoyable. There is a road down the cliff and easy to reach.

Have visited this beach many times. There may be better beaches out there when you take individual things like quietness or beauty or activity or shopping, but as an overall package this place is the best. Like the name suggests...destroy your sins here.....or create some and then destroy it here itself ;)
