Rio Claro is a legitimate 3.5 hour drive from MDE. The road is OK but very winding and laced with fast and sometimes slow semi-truck traffic. It is not a relaxing drive. Awesome rafting with 5y/o son, Jorge the raft captain was a gentleman and insured an adventurous trip even though the rapids were level 1 or less...the marble canyon... 更多
This is a great place for birds, if you can put up with the accommodations. Our birding tour spent two nights here. The bird list is substantial, including many endemic species, and there is currently an active Oilbird cave. As the restaurant is open on the sides, we were able to spot interesting birds - toucans, hummingbirds, flycatchers, and others... 更多
If you feel adventurous and love nature this is a good option. There are eco-cabins that are simple but comfortable, which are immerse in the forest surrounding river Rio Claro. It is required certain level of fitness depending on the activities you choose. It is simple but nature reminded me Travel to the Center of Earth.
Stayed in an open-air room overlooking the river and was able to watch monkeys and Iguanas from the balcony. Truely amazing feeling to have marble canyon walls towering over you. Avoid going on the weekends as its much more peaceful and relaxing mid-week. I had no problems with making a reservation but I was told by a hostel owner that... 更多
I stayed here 3 nights and should have left immediately. I had to argue with them to get help with my bags. A 1.2 Km walk to my room which was dirty. The staff could care less about attending to you. Everything was an arguement. Birding was great but again, they know nothing. It is a water theme park with... 更多
To be honest, during my whole trip over Colombia the service of this place really sucks, i mean, you can find nice and helpful people in the majority places of Colombia, BUT THIS, is the WORST... i spend one week trying to get and answer for a reservation, also called several times to land line and cell phone but NO... 更多
Rio Claro is an amazing eco reserve to visit. Stay in the El Refugio cabins if you can. It's a wonderful place to relax, swim in the rio, and learn about the jungle. The Director of the reserve is dedicated to preserving and educating both Colombians and foreigners about the natural environment. There are fun activities as well: ziplines, caving... 更多
We stayed here for two nights. The area is really fantastic. Beautiful nature, so many birds and we even saw otters nearby and ejoyed it very much. The food was great. We stayed in La Maluta cabins. Spacious room but cold water in the bathroom. And why are there no insect screens where the windows are????? Because there is nog... 更多
Great place for birding. Stayed two nights. Didn't bother with activities but I did swim in at the beach. Not excellent because no clear management or leadership and it was our first place in Colombia - I lost some binoculars and nobody really helped me. But the location and birds were brilliant!
Great place! to be in a jungle environment without machetes, that's great! I stayed 1 night and did a lot of walking around the best time to walk around and see animals is when night falls. Go from the restaurant to the entrance and search with your torch at the roadside, we saw some great insects and animals!!! Nobody does... 更多
