Unlike many campgrounds, this one has a wonderful privacy way of keeping everyone feeling like they are the only ones there. There are large shrubs around each campsite isolating the campers. The host welcomes you to the site and spends time with you then leaves you to enjoy your time there. It secluded but still close to Albert Lea if... 更多
You pay $5 at an unattended park, though cheap, with no idea what is actually there other than a map. It is rated as a good place for fishing, but it's a dying lake polluted by farm runoff and low oxygen level. Fishing was exceptionally poor. There was also a distinct lack of waterfowl which is not a good indication.
We have camped at White Fox Campground for the past 3 years and we'd go back again. (This is different than the Big Island campground, which we have not been to...it seems very buggy, not as private and the bathrooms have not been remodeled). At WF, many of the camping spots are more secluded (it seems that way, with more... 更多
We have visited this state park many times, I'll be honest it's not my favorite MN State Park (Blue Mounds, Whitewater, Beaver Creek, Frans Jevne, and Judge C.R. Magney, and Big Bog are some of my favorites), but it is a very good park that does a very good job at showing the diversity of Minnesota and providing for many... 更多
I've camped all across the country and I don't think I've ever seem more wildlife than at Myre-Big Island. I was there in late August and was amazed. The only improvement I would suggest is that the park provide some information to identify the wildlife there. Other than that (the park staff not informed or interested in educating the public... 更多
This is not only a big park with lots of wildlife, birds and water activities. There are trails and shelters. The thing I really like is camping. The park is well designed with as much privacy at each space as they can make. The facilities are well maintained. This park has a lot to offer, and is very easy to... 更多
I stayed here three weekends in a row one summer because I was working on a project in town. The park seemed a bit plain, but I just needed somewhere to sleep, so it didn't matter. What a surprise came at dusk, though! The fireflies came out and put on the most amazing display i have ever seen! I didn't... 更多
I was very impressed with the State Park. Unfortunately, I didn't get to do much hiking because the weather was uncooperative. The short walk I did take was beautiful through the woods next to the lake. There were also some hearty campers that weekend. It's sure to be a busy place during the summer months.
No pretty waterfalls or streams to play in. Large lake with tons of trees, grass, and gnats. Beautiful place if you like peace and quiet and walking through wooded areas. Bathrooms are normal (flushing toilets). I won't come here again but that's just because camping and bugs are not our thing. Nice place if you like that type of thing.... 更多
