If you have already seen much what Plovdiv offers, you can take a little time to visit Asen's Fortress. The view is amazing from there and you surely won't be disappointed. I recommend it to everyone who visits Asenovgrad for a day. The fortress is also featured in the 100 National Objects of Bulgaria so it's a must to visit!... 更多
We had a good time visiting the fortress. Reaching it involves a short hike from the town below, on a road used by cars too. It's still a nice walk, first by the river and then with a pretty forest surrounding you. Took us about an hour. The remains themselves are not super impressive, but the view is beautiful and... 更多
Had a tour here on the start of a 3-week tour of 8 Balkan countries plus Ukraine and Romania. A little difficult to get to but worth the drive. Many hardy people waked up a fairly steep road and back. Beautiful Icons and great views looking toward valley. As I remember it was difficult to find a bathroom in the... 更多
A rather small structure perched on a rock. The architecture is great and there is very little intervention since it was built (only the roof was fixed after it fell in a certian location due to an earthquake or something). The view from the place is amazing - highly recommend a stop there. Does not take too long, unless you... 更多
It's a beautiful place to visit. Beware, lots of stairs so wear comfy shoes and bring water. The views from everywhere were breathtaking. Worth the trip
Its worth if for the view alone. You feel like your on the edge of the world. The views from the fortress are amazing, and its a fantastic spot to spend an hour. Pick a sunny day so you can see for miles in all directions
A good place to visit in the weekend, just 17 km away from Plovdiv. The re is a good parking lot next to the attraction, so no walk is required. It's located on a hill and you have a great view on Asenovgrad and the river.
This was worth the drive it took to get to. Bulgaria really has loads of history. Tough to get much info on the history while there (little english) but you feel the history as you walk around. Don't try if you can't manage steep uphill walking.
If you travel from Plovdiv, trough Asenovgrad and would like to dive into the deep sea of the balkans, this is your first stop for picnic, or photos, have a break before the slow drive up. There is a small restaurant there also. My advise is to rent a car, so you are free to go around and spend as... 更多
