We visited as a family with my husband and three year old son. It was a Sunday around 9:30am so the wait to pay to get in was about an hour. We were surprised by the huge crowds of people that literally set up camp... Grills - tents - hammocks - the place was like a squatter community . We... 更多
Got off the exit on route 50 around 10:45am on a Saturday sat in horrible dead spot traffic for over an hour before even got to the sign that states you are entering the park. It is less than a mile off the exit to this sign. Then it probably would have been another hour or more sitting and waiting... 更多
Drove from Northern VA for a day trip with our 3 year old and 1 year old. Admission was $6/non-resident person in the car for weekdays. $12 for my Husband and I. It's $7 on weekends. Residents are $5 on weekdays and $6 on weekends. The kiddos were free since they were in car seats. They charge for kids sitting... 更多
Large sandy beach with life guards. Changing rooms available, snack bar looked good but plenty of opportunity to bring grills, tents, etc. to make a day of it. Go early on weekends as the parking fills up and rangers close entrance. $8 per person (non-resident) for entrance
Getting into the park was a long process. An accident on the interstate didn't help. The cost of admission is $7 a person. I went there because of a family reunion so the area I was in was reserved. It was nice and uncrowded. The pavilion was clean and was right by the water. The bathroom there was clean and... 更多
Kids had fun, but it was very crowded (granted it was a Sunday). The line to get in was over a mile long. For being a "trash free beach" there was a lot of trash blowing into the water at us the entire time we were there. It is cash only for any food/beverage items so plan ahead.
We didn't read the information on the website close enough and ended up taking our dog with us to this beach after 1 May. Instead of turning around after driving an hour, we decided most of the group would go and I would stay back with the dog. I asked the gate worker if I could drop off the group... 更多
Growing up in NJ, I like my beaches with a boardwalk. It is a basic beach a nice view and bay water. As a side trip to relax and get some sun, I would recommend it.
Sandy Point State Park is a great family park. During the summer months fundraising entertaining events are scheduled. Beaches are kept clean, ample parking is available, restrooms, and they provide plenty of grills to use for everyone. Some swimming areas but you need to watch your own family members
