Interesting place to visit. Reminding for soviet soldiers died for liberation of Bulgaria in WW2. A little bit old. but still very impressive.
This is one of few very clear reminders of the history of Bulgaria in second part of the XX century. And this is why it's so important. It depicts soldiers of victorious Red army which made its campaign through Balkan peninsula as a part of fighting Germans. This monument, located within a sort of run-down park, is dedicated to the Soviet army. It literally oozes Communism from each direction and each and every character is sculptured to emphasize just how ideal those ideas are. Visited this monument alone but it was far more interesting when we visited it on the 365 Communist Tour with Martin ... but Google it to see the pictures of how it has been used for protest

Its good, interesting to look at for 10 minutes, very well designed in great detail. If you are wandering round the city for things to look at its worth a go, I wouldn't make a special trip just for this though.
In the park next to the national football stadium the Monument is massive and typical of Soviet post war art.Worth a visit.
Excellent photo opp, and bonus points for the skate punks, too. Worth a visit if you're nearby, which you likely are as it's so close to major sights in the city.
This is an interesting monument, because well to be honest the Bulgarians hate it... they want nothing to do or remind them of the Soviet influence there; so rebels and teenagers have taken to climbing and spray painting over half of it. However, it didn't stop some tourists such as myself from snapping a few pics... the locals didn't seem... 更多
