We went on a 4 days / 3 nights trek with SAM travel and it was great. Great views, and when we went (1st week of September), we barely saw any other tourists until Machu Picchu. Reasonably challenging, especially going over the high mountain passes, but nothing beyond reasonable fitness levels. Get some altitude acclimatisation first though!
Most people only think about the Inca Trail as the primary hiking path to Machu Picchu. There is another option -- the Lares Valley. It is very beautiful, not quite as high (14,500 ft. pass at maximum), much less crowded and much cleaner than the Inca Trail. And you have a lodge to lodge option so that you don't have... 更多
The trek is only 2 days. Then another day to aguascalientes by bus and train and last day visit to machupicchu. During day 1 we did our way up to 4200m and slept on tents in the middle of nowhere with a breathtaking views (and freezing temperatures, better bring a below zero sleeping bag or rent the one from the... 更多
I did the Lares Trek with G-adventures at the beginning of July. I had literally no idea what to expect and I could not have been more impressed. The guides were amazing - professional and skilled and funny and caring all at the same time. Special mention to Julio who took our group to 5,000 metres and not only gave... 更多
We chose Kandoo Adventures who advertised a 5 day tour for about £800. I cannot compliment the company enough! The quality of every aspect of the tour was very high. 5 days included: Airport transfers if you want them although cheaper to pick up an airport taxi when you arrive 2 nights in a good hotel (Warari) in Cusco Full... 更多
Fate would have it that when I was organizing my Peru trip that the Inca Trail permits were all booked out so I went for the Lares Trek and boy was it GREAT! The Lares Trek is basically a "backway" that explore the rural/country side of the Inca world. And u also end up venturing through part of the andes... 更多
we were here in december and there was only feeble rains that did not interrupted our trek, we were enjoying our vacations with a wonderful walk around the mountains and finally machupichu.
I can only highly recommend Sam Travel for our trek ending in Machu Picchu. We had put this trip together at the last minute and so there were no Inca Trail permits available for our travel dates during the week of Thanksgiving. Sam Travel was able to book us for the Lares Trek for the days that worked for us,... 更多
My 18 year-old daughter traveled alone to Peru where she was to meet a group of students for gap year travel to the rainforest. She arrived a week earlier than the group so she could do the trek to Machu Picchu. I did a lot of research on tours and ended up choosing SAM Travel, they answered all my questions... 更多
