Recently visited market area and shops down town noumea. We found the city dirty and unkempt. Buildings derilict. Greatly disappointed. Won't be back .please have a little pride in your city and clean it up. And spend some tourist revenue on local infrastructure. Cruise ships will bypass your city and spend there hard earned money elsewhere. Graeme w
Two young wood carvers on the market are really good and they are doing statues originating from the local culture. They even speak a bit of English and can explain the origin of their "faces". Spices are nowhere near locals but you'll find some nice condiments for your kitchen that you might not find in many places. The snack place... 更多
Visited the Morning Markets on our recent shore visit from the Carnival Spirit on the 20th January 2017. It was exactly what I expected it to be. It a relatively small market compared to normal markets in Australia (Check out Balmain School Markets as an example). There was very little shade except for inside where you could find lots of... 更多
Noumea Morning market is interesting to have a walk around. Popular with the locals it is mostly a fish, fruit and vegetable market. There are some interesting souvenirs there but I think it is likely that many of them wouldn't be allowed back into Australia or New Zealand as they are made of wood or contain seeds so take care... 更多
The market is best for viewing locals at the market. Seeing the variety of fresh produce and locally caught fish was interesting. We were off the cruise so really didn't want to spend lots of money on these kinds of things. What we wanted was little trinkets, ice cream and soft drinks but without the local currency we were not... 更多
we went on a thursday, not sure if this isnt a very busy day. was a few shops outside with towels, clothing etc the fresh fruit markets had a wide variety and the cafe in the middle was nice!
We stopped here one afternoon to find some souvenirs to take back home. It is a good sized market mainly filled with local fresh produce. This particular time there was an area outside with additional tents of vendors selling jewellery, toys, clothing etc. Inside there were also quite a few carts selling souvenirs. Definitely worth wandering around.
Big, nice and clean Fresh produce and fish markets;Beautiful bright and natural colored vegeatables almost looked too pretty to eat: As a cruiser, was not able to purchase and take back on cruise; Visiting these markets is an excursion itself; local bus vouchers where available to purchase costing between $10-$15 around Noumea.
This is an amazing Market which sells fresh produce, flowers and crafts. The abundance of fresh fish and meat products are amazing as are the beautiful floral arrangements.
