I first visited the Golestan some fifty years ago and remembered its finery with pleasure. At that time the Peacock Throne was kept there. I enjoyed my recent visit, particularly the mirrorwork which has always been a favourite of mine. The grounds were well-tended and refreshments available.
I liked this place for its royal hall with the statues of Qajarid kings which are well designed and also when you are in this place you feel automatically and it looks like you are living in the same time time in the same period of kingdom . The objects inside the museum are really very lovely and worth seeing.
IT is located at the center of old tehran just near grand bazzar you can see the very magnificent sign of old royal family life style and the very nice hall where the coronation of last 2 king of iran was at there. The place you cannot miss when in Tehran. Great exhibitions, most beautiful rooms to be visited. Bring a local guide with you who explains the historical background. Be aware that only yellow taxis can appoach the roads close to the palace. Others have to park up to 1 km away.
It always depends what one is looking for, but the only thing I found impressive about this place was the price. Certainly if you are interested in museums etc, this might be fine for you. I only payed entrance for the garden and this one didn't even have water in the fountains ...
So easy to get to and near the bazaar, you should come see this palace! The amount of work & attention to detail both inside and out is very impressive and beautiful. the interior is so over the top with mirror work I couldn't help but cheekily think what a fantastic nightclub it would make!
A visitor to Golestan Palace can easily spend hours walking around and marveling at the architecture. There is a small entrance fee about $4. The person who planned the site had everything right down to the smallest detail. The palace has been pain painstakingly restored and maintained. I enjoyed walking through the ceremonial hall were all the china was showcased... 更多
It is a big yard with museums of photo and some buildings around. the buildings are each a palace, with different architecture. They are amazing and beautuful! colorful, full of mirror works...
It is a very good place to start visiting this very unknown country and to have a taste of an important part of its history.
There are some stunning examples of mirror glass mosaics which cover the walls and ceilings of whole rooms. This is one of the characteristic styles and can be found in mosques and other sites throughout Iran.
