I went to Qalat al Bahrain with my family in 2008 and it was the highlight of our visit to Bahrain. The museum has improved since then and now has excellent audio guides too, making for an even better experience. The fort itself is pretty nice (I've visited many in the region); the associated archaeology site(s) - and the supporting... 更多
The whole archeological site is really well maintained. It is clean, audio guide available upon request and several boards with exhaustive historical site explanation are along the way. It's worth to have a walk along the fort perimeter which gives you the chance to take amazing pictures. Inside the fort there are several beautiful glimpses which gave you one more... 更多
When I first visited the fort, several years ago, it was difficult to walk in parts, others were cordoned off because of danger of walls crumbling, etc. Now it has very tastefully been restored, keeping the true spirit and architecture of the place intact. The views are spectacular too. And the small museum at the foot of the fort is... 更多
I lived in Bahrain 45 years ago.... This place was hardly built out at all. Today there is a massive stone fort that has been rebuilt and digs that date back thousands of years. There is a small visitor center. This is a diamond--still a bit in the rough. I had a tour guide that was familiar with the site... 更多
I loved this fort and when you go inside there was some interesting art exhibits in the underground cambers. You can experience the scale of what it was like in times past and the activity going on in this fort.
This place is cool and right on the edge of the center of Manama, so you could stop by on your way to or from the malls. It is a very old fort--parts of it are still being excavated from the sand. It is attached to a cafe and a museum, so you can learn a ton from museum and... 更多
A wonderful site to visit if you are in Bahrain. I would rate it the best site to visit as far as historical trips go. Bahrain doesn't take much pride in its history but they have gone to great lengths to preserve this one. It is great to walk through without a guide and take photos. But take water if... 更多
The fort is extensive with many interior rooms and pathways along the battlements. My daughter and I had great fun imagining that we were defending the fort against dragons (helicopters and kites) flying nearby. We spent 1-2 hours exploring. An audio tour is available that describes some of the >4 thousand year history of the site. Highly recommended.
I'm from Bahrain, and this is one of my favorite places to go. If you can, go an hour before sun set, walk around, watch the sun set from the roof of the fort then go check out the small accompanying museum. Later, grab a piece of cake or cup of coffee from the cafe and sit by the water.... 更多
Located near the sea, and very well presrved, is Qalat al Bahrain. With a very impresive entrance and different rooms, transforem in "art halls", transfers the visitor to the past. from east you have a good vie of Bahrain city, and from west a palm forest is very beautifull.
