Like every major town in the region, Vientiane now has its own gilded phallic symbol to ward off bad luck, or attract good fortune.
Built on a prime piece of land near the city centre, the government didn't spare any cost or effort on this structure. It is not a temple, as some here claim, but a shrine with origins...
I met this place by walk to Srimuang Temple. That was big and have beautiful style. This place was no people know and visit but have some great impress for the art of this place here.No more charge to sightseeing here.
A beautiful temple in a prominent location along Setthathirat Street. It was built on the spot where 473 stone city pillar fragments dating back to the 4th or 5th century were unearthed along with other artifacts. An attractive temple, it stands out as a landmark in the city centre.
I went around the structure and couldnt go inside as it was "barred from visitors" when I visited. Had a chance to have a photo op outside with three monks. Structurally, the pillar shrine has intricate design of a mixed of gold and red.
