I've never been to a house museum before where the house and its contents were handed from the resident to the organization. Very cool. Learned a lot.
This says it all about Ike. They have his home and built the Library and Museum around it. It shows his solid midwest roots and explains in part where his honesty and plain speaking came from. The exhibits are extensive on his WW2 experience as well as his presidency. Naturally, all president sites are flattering and there could be improvements... 更多
For small donation, you and a guest can tour all four exhibits, plus get a 20% discount in the gift shop and free entrance to the other 12 NARA Presidential libraries. For this library, the tour of the boyhood home, reminded me of Linda's grandmothers home. The library is a research one & only has a few exhibits & we... 更多
The Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum sits on a large rectangular tract of land comprising approximately 2 to 3 city blocks and which is a complex of several buildings including his Boyhood Home, the Museum which has permanent and Special Exhibits, a Gift Shop which also has a screening room/theatre which presents a documentary film on Eisenhower, the Library across... 更多
We spent half a day at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum in Abilene KS. Our first impression is that the museum has not been updated in a long time and it does not do justice to his Presidency. Each presentation board looks like the next and the graphics can be hard to read. (Black print on a dark red-brown... 更多
Sadly, most Americans no longer remember President Eisenhower. The library and museum were both very well worth the visit. They were extremely well done, and really told the story of his time in office and the great ways in which he helped our country grow after the war. We noticed that these facilities were not nearly as well attended as... 更多
We spent the day touring the Museum, boyhood home and library in this attractive med-western town. All is a taste to a by gone era. The museum is a great time line of World War II, focused on and featuring the Eisenhower connections and events. It was well worth the couple of hours we spent! If you decide to go,... 更多
I have visited almost all the presidential museums. This is among the better ones. Plenty of material about World War II as well as Ike's presidential terms. If you are at all a student of twentieth century American history this is worth the trip.
Not that far off I-70. If you grew up in the 50's and 60's you will have to pry yourself away. Has changed quite a bit since my first visit say 50+ years ago. The museum artifacts are much more dense now and spill over into the library. Most floor space is devoted to the war years, but we found... 更多
We arrived 2 hours 45 minutes before closing and didn't make it through all of the displays. The first section of the museum is WWII artifacts and a lot of reading on the displays. My oldest son loves anything WWII, so we spent a lot of time in this area not realizing how much more of the museum there was... 更多
