This is a litttle gen in our heartland. The guides were informative. I especially enjoyed his boyhood home and the guide for that. The museum was very interesting with a lot of information and displays. The Library roo. Nice visit!
The Museum is dated, but it does provide a great historical presentation regarding President Eisenhower's life. The Museum is presently in the process of a major fundraising effort, in order to update the facilities. The campus is spread out to include the Library, Museum, Visitors Center , the Boyhood Home, and the Chapel where Ike and Mamie Eisenhower are buried.... 更多
We scheduled a weekend trip from KC to Abilene specifically to visit the Eisenhower Museum. It did not disappoint us. We thoroughly enjoyed the details about Ike's life and military career in the Museum and the peek at his early years in his home. We also visited the Seelye Mansion in Abilene which also ties into Ike's childhood. We would... 更多
This was my first visit to a presidential library so I wasn't sure exactly what to expect - and it's likely they are all different. At this location are a visitor center and gift shop, museum, library, chapel and the boyhood home of President Eisenhower. And in fact all of the buildings/attractions are located on the 2+ acres of land... 更多
We visited here with another couple and thoroughly enjoyed our time. We took about 2 1/2 hours to view the home and museum and chapel/burial. There were very few visitors on the day we came so had plenty of time to sit and view videos, read the exhibits, tour the home etc. What an example General Eisenhower was both in... 更多
This site offers the graves, family home, museum and Library. I arrived to the visitor center were I was able to purchase the ticket, get my tour ticket of the home(takes 15 mins). I was able to visit the graves in the chapel prior to touring the home. The museum is a mix of presentation from 30 years ago and... 更多
This was amazing, even though two of the galleries were under renovation. Plans are in the works to redo the whole thing in 2018-19 if they can raise enough funds in the year ahead, at which point it would be truly incredible. (Verify before planning a trip that it is not temporarily closed.) This was imagined and started by Ike... 更多
I have been here, several times. It's a nice drive on a clear day. It's an exciting place to see. The memorial spot is beautiful. I go, every 3-4 yrs. It's about time, again. Kids enjoy it, but, adults can 'remember'. It's good for everyone. Abilene is a nice town, in itself.
Was expecting more about his presidency, instead, museum focused mainly on WWII. Enjoyed the exhibit about Mamie and her dresses---especially nice that they were on mannequins that spun around so you could see the back. House tour was ok, can only see first floor and can't even see all the rooms---kitchen can only be sort of seen with a mirror... 更多
