This was a great find tucked a little off the main road. The couple that ran it were very friendly . Lots of local information that was interesting and well laid out. The air conditioning was very good on a hot day. The buildings out back were treasures seeping with history. You must see the Parker Carousal. It is a... 更多
In addition to the usual local heritage museum items, there is a large collection of vintage telephones with the plenty of descriptive material. You can learn how manual and automatic switchboards work. On the grounds is a large vintage carousel which you can ride for a small additional charge.
This museum is behind the world famous Eisenhower museum, and is a more local history museum flavor, but behind the front door is a wonderful exhibit on local telephone development, distribution, and advancements in telecommunications. Very informative and enriching for kids and adults with a love of history. The back of the museum has old houses from the city, and... 更多
On the outside, this museum doesn't look like much, but the inside has quite a history review of Abilene and Dickinson County from its early roots and its legends of Wyatt Earp and Wild Bill Hichock. Lots of antiques in this museum and well worth a visit. The outside area has some old replica buildings as well as a C.W.... 更多
The grandchildren truly enjoyed seeing the museum and riding on the carousel. The older buildings interested them as well. The museum gives a good look at the past in this area.
We visited with 6 adults and 6 children between 2 and 14. It was an amazing experience for everyone, even though it was a somewhat chilly day and we had to walk between buildings with a little wet snow in places. Everyone greatly enjoyed themselves and the center has a spectacular array of historical items from fossils, to a pistol... 更多
You'll be surprised. Information not only of Dickinson county, but of life in general during the late 19th century. The telephony is unique and the 11 year old got a kick out of seeing the evolution of the telephone. The outside exhibits are relatively well kept and make sure you ride the restored carousel - it moves faster than you... 更多
We travel with our small dog and hoped to be able to see the museum and surrounding historic buildings and we were not disappointed. The ladies manning the desk allowed us to carry our small dog through the main building and then have him on leash in the outer buildings. What a treat to see the telephony area, the old... 更多
