The Ntamara Church is another very powerful memorial t the cruelty and inhumanity of the genocide. This is much better organized and preserved than the. Nyamata memorial, but both are worth the visit. The cruelty on display, like how they dealt with the children in the nursery, is unimaginable. While a thirty minute drive from Kigali, it will give you... 更多
Not far from Nyamata but several kilometres off the main road, is the Church of Ntarama. Here as well a major massacre took place. Inside the Church are some of the bones and coffins of the victims, though most have now been respectfully buried at the site. Adjacent to the Church is a room filled from floor to ceiling with... 更多
This is not for the feint of heart but it is worth the visit. What happened at this church to the families and children of the region needs to be remembered to protect us against committing similar things in the future.
The church is quite a way out of town and not that easy for a stranger without a guide to find. However, it is well worth the visit. My wife and I felt that this was emotionally the most significant place in Rwanda that we visited. Whilst one does not want to dwell 'on the past' and we encourage all... 更多
Going there after visiting the genocide memorial is eye-opening. the way there is also nice and gives a glimpse of rural Rwanda (only 40 min away from Kigali). However, note that some of the pictures do not reflect how the church currently looks like as they have removed all the clothes that were pending from the ceiling and dumped them... 更多
When you plan to come, open your mind and prepare your heart to understand. It will show you the real thing that happen during the Genoside. The tour guide is amazing and shes one of the survivors, I felt really sad and teary eyed when I left the site but so proud of what Rwandan did achieve today and how... 更多
Be prepared and carry a tissue or two. This memorial site is about 2.5km from the main road sign that directs you to the site. I would suggest that you take a moto-taxi or a bicycle. it cost us 200RWF from this site to the main road on a local bicycle. In itself, I found that this site was far... 更多
After visiting nyamata church (approx 15minutes away) I went to visit this site. I felt this was slightly more censored then the other, it is also being preserved in more of a museum feel with sign boards and proper roofing etc over the site. In the church itself there are rows and rows of skulls of the victims that were... 更多
A very powerful place to visit that leaves you numb and angry and amazed that Rwanda is capable of moving so far forward since 1994.
