The garden is small and has excellent paths. Unfortunately I was there in the dry season, but there was still much to see. The Bottle trees were in flower and they really are a sight to behold. The desert house is excellent, it is very well maintained and has some very interesting specimens from the Namib Desert. Entrance is also... 更多
The garden is not too big, and not far from the city center. But as most of it are trees, there is not much to see during the dry season.
It's a nice place to spend the time if you are staying in the capital city for any reason. It's very clean but remember that if you go in winter time, half of the plant will by dry. And by the way... It's free. You don't pay anything to get inside.
One of the things we ticket off our visit to Windhoek. Spent about an hour or so, but nothing unusually different on the walk. Their "demonstration garden" looked lovely. Spotted many gheckos and a snake on the walk.
The Trip Advisor Wikipedia link to parliament gardens is incorrect. The Botanic Gardens are very worthwhile, not very accessible if you have physical limitations. ( there are stairs and hilly, rocky paths). Many very interesting plants, excellent descriptions, lots of birds, lizards, small mammals. There are also lovely viewpoints of the hilly city suburbs. Yes, it's dry. I walked there... 更多
First person to sign in today and I thoroughly enjoyed my walk through the Botanical Gardens. Had a hard time getting a decent photo of the quiver trees without houses or cars in the background as the forest is adjacent to the boundary fence but lovely to see them and other unusual plants. A lovely place to visit and the... 更多
A true national treasure that appears to be under-utilized. It's free and has many places to go to see the local plants, trees, and some of the birds. Charming trails and well-marked specimens, this is a good place to spend several hours. A shorter trip is still worthwhile. Walkable from downtown but bring a map!
A lovely place to walk and see not only the plant life of Namibia but also some of its birds, insects and reptiles. Beautifully peaceful network of paths - could be better signposted though. Some of the plants were a little dry and dead unfortunately. Would be great if it opened even earlier - I arrived at 8am (the earliest)... 更多
The monthly guided walk through the garden with the Botanical Society is awesome! If you go often, you see the changes in each plant over the seasons. Magical. Plus, if you ask, they show you some of the edible plants, so if you ever get stuck in the bush ;)
