You do need a good car and a driver. Our driver didn't know how to drive and got us stuck. Everyone helped get us out, including the chief of the park. Thank you. Considering this is within 2 hrs from Maputo, the size of the animal population is quite amazing!
Having traveled Southern Africa fairly extensively and read all the reports on this reserve, we were somewhat disappointed. We didn't see much game (a few bokkies) but this was expected. The bird life was very disappointing with very little seen. Scenery I thought was very average. Varied between rolling grassland, coastal scrub and coastal forest. We drove through the reserve... 更多
Trademarks are the elephants. Also hippos, giraffes and a bunch of herbivores. There are a few lodges, nice but basic camping site, and beautifull beaches.
It felt like we had the whole reserve to ourselves, hardly seeing any other cars throughout our 3 days of game drives. Though there aren't any big predators, we saw loads of Elephants and an array of Antelope, Zebra, and more. The roads definitely require a 4x4 but the steep sandy paths add to the experience. Hard to believe it's... 更多
We travelled as a group of friends camping. Arrived at the edge of a lake late evening and set up to wake up in the morning to beautiful views of the lake. Plenty of bird life to view while having breakfast before breaking camp and going on the another camp site which was within walking distance to the beach. Spent... 更多
Drove through the reserve on our way back from a few days near Ponta de Oura (which was trashy and not so lovely). The scenery and varied habitats are stunning - the most beautiful pristine landscape we saw in Moz, SA or Rwanda. Didn't see an elephant or a ton of wildlife (some hippos, wildebeests, red duiker, impalas) but also... 更多
Fantastic, unspoiled nature just 100kms south of Mozambique. The scenery is fantastic, it can become a gem for Mozambique tourism if properly managed, stocked with wildlife and poaching kept under control. No tourism facilities inside the reserve, you're (almost) completely on your own.
We travelled through the reserve en route from Kozi Bay to Santa Maria. We were three 4x4 vehicles, two towing skiboats and Jetskis on wide axle trailers. The reserve is pristine bush, wild and isolated, and a special place to experience. The entry fees for a single vehicle with two passengers was R399.00, and there is a separate charge for... 更多
So close to Maputo, yet so remote! Just the drive to the gate of the reserve is a challenge unto itself, due to the poor state of the access roads (although large sections from Catembe and on are being upgraded at the time of this writing). Once inside the reserve the road turns into sand tracks, so 4x4 and deflated... 更多
