For people not too much into history, this spot is not that awe-inspiring. The view from the fort is quite good with bird's eye view of Port Louis, Cauden Waterfront and the port. But not much history to the fort per se.
Well architecture and structured. A whole city view is awesome from the fort. Nothing much more for tourist for attraction. Just 30-40 min visit is enough for the place.
The fort is named after Queen Adelaide and was built between 1834 and 1840. It is 240 feet above sea level and this Moorish type fort was constructed to guard the harbour against enemy attacks. We didn't plan to see the Citadel Fort, but we booked a private taxi through Mauritius taxis and the driver we had for the day took us to the fort. When you are at the top of the fort you have a 360 degree view of Port Louis (The houses and the entire port). Definitely worth a visit if you... 更多
This was a part of our tour and it has some nice views to it. I have been to many forts and trust me this is not a huge place. You can very well cover it in 30 minutes, click some nice photos with mountain and city views and be done with it.
