This giant market spills out from the confines of the buildings and stalls; and into all the surrounding streets. It may look a bit overwhelming, and the guides will tell you to mind your belongings. Analakely is a very big market. They sell clothes, accessories, food etc etc. There is bus transportation available to bring you towards the market. If its your first time visiting, you need to play it smart. Advisable is to bring a local person with you. Like that you can negotiate the price. This is such a charming place...you can find pretty much anything you are looking for foodwise. This is like the must of folklore...but like the open air market, be very careful with money, cameras, bags and purses etc...
What a delightful collection of vendors . . . from curtains of hanging shoes, to neat mounds of fruits and vegetables . . . this mostly outdoor market is alive with locals going about their daily lives. A great peak into the Malagasy culture for any tourist.
I enjoy these types of markets because it isn't tailored to tourists, but everyday people. There are some souvenir vendors, but the majority is groceries and other basic products.
