Interesting spot for a visit especially when it is 95% full. Something that has not happened in a long time. The February rains hae swelled the upstream rivers resulting in the ustream dams being full and the overflow now making its way into the Gaborone dam. The fiil of the century.
The dam is huge and has amazing view if you're standing on the Yatch Club Balcony, I love the fact that you can self drive around it & enjoy the view at your own peace
The view from the Gaborone Yacht Club is superb when the dam has water, and although the dam is only 32% full one can imagine what it is like when it is completely covered. The cafe is visually perfect for this type of establishment and is a photographers delight. We were only there for drinks bu the food looked ok... 更多
We tried to visit the Yacht Club at the Gaborone Dam and were harassed at the WUC Security Gate. Not sure what the rules are but they eventually let us in. While the water levels were very depressing it was interesting to see the old ruins just a couple 100m from the Club house. These have not been seen since... 更多
We went sightseeing at the western entrance and it is beautiful at sunset, with clouds and lightning in the southern sky. The gate staff were very friendly and helpful; they advised that the dam is safe to stay over at and there are impala, warthog and other wildlife at the dam. I will definitely visit the dam again and come... 更多
There is two areas to go to, yacht club or the dame itself. Yacht club is good and popular, the dam itself is dangerous and should be visited with big caution
Beautifully positioned area south of the city centre but so, so wasted. Not for visitors as trying to organise the necessary permits to get into this area is extremely difficult and time consuming. Gate staff are hostile unfriendly and unwelcoming not encouraging visitors. Road to the gate is sand and badly worn. Once inside you can pinic close to the... 更多
With the drought, the Gaborone Dam is nearly empty - a big worry for the Botswanan people and government. But it was beautiful for hiking and rock climbing. We had to go to a government office to buy a license and photograph option.
