My wife and I rode the trestle twice as part of the Midwest Tandem Rally. The Friday evening ride was from the Madrid trailhead/parking area - about a 5 mile, relatively flat, round trip. We were there to see the lights come on at dusk. Really cool. Bike lights are necessary since there were lots of pedestrians in dark clothing.... 更多
It was a pretty spring day - there were a lot of people out and about. It's kind of strenuous if you are doing a round trip. One side is at quite a long incline. Very scenic and cool when it's lit up at night.
This trail is by far my favorite biking trail in the Des Moines area. The trail is wide and well maintained. The scenery is beautiful! There are small shelters to stop and rest/eat at along the way. It's worth it to see the High Trestle Trail Bridge. It gives an incredible view! At night it is lit up, which is... 更多
We recently cycled the High Trestle Trail. It is a must stop for cyclists and hikers. You need to ride it at night and in the day time. Part of the trestle is lit up at night and you can ride across the trestle through the lights - it is fabulous! However, you also have to come back during the... 更多
We have gone way out of our way twice to ride across the High Trestle Bridge. Only the western part of the bridge lights up at night, but it is well worth seeing. If you are walking across the bridge at night, please have a light. I was afraid during the whole ride that I would hit someone, because there... 更多
I love nothing more when traveling than discovering something known just to the locals. The High Trestle Bridge is just such a gem. Go at dusk and watch the transformation that takes place per the artistically elegant lighting array. We were fortunate on our hike over this structure to be blessed with perfect late afternoon light...the Des Moines River flowing... 更多
We do a great many Trail Link trails as we travel in our small RV and this one was exceptional. We picked up the trail in Woodward and rode to the bridge about 2.6 miles away, crossed and rode on another 2.5 miles to Madrid and back. Even the slight rain didn't damped our enthusiasm, and lunch at the Whistlin... 更多
This is a 25 mile former railroad rightaway to the highest pedestrian bridge in north America or at least the US. One can go as far as one wants. The grades are mild and the path is wide, paved and well taken care of. There are several spots to stop along the way and if not going the full distance... 更多
