Rather than a group cruise ship tour we went ashore and met a representative of Ecological tours selling excursions at the dock. We opted for a private tour (4 of us) and still paid less than on the ship! I can't say enough about our guide CARLOS. He was so knowledgeable about the history of Belize, its culture, homeopathic health... 更多
This site is easily accessed and if you time it to avoid the crowds it is a leisurely 2 hr tour through well maintained grounds. Anne Marie was our most excellent guide and she took us through the museum first for site orientation, and discussion of trade items, Mayan beliefs, hierarchy and burial practices before guiding us through the actual... 更多
The ruins added to the culture experience of the Mayans but the best part was the restaurant just outside the gates - crystal skull. The most delicious fish I've ever had and by far my best meal in Belize. The staff were exceptional and the price was just right.
This is not the greatest Mayan ruins in Belize, but it is very easy accessible and doesn't require much walk. The complex is not very big, but it still has all elements of a traditional Mayan ruin complex. The unique thing is that the famous jade head was found here and there is still a nice replica of it exhibited... 更多
It was nice, but nothing to write home about. I'm not a history buff, so it might be me. The site is maintained very well, and the structure are impressive considering the were built by hand by the Mayan civilization. But, not much else. Not exciting. Our guide was very good, and seemed knowledgeable. But sometimes it wasn't too interesting.
This was a 6 hour trip and every single second was well spent. We started off by coach to the Mayan ruins. Our guide, Simone, was very informative and humourous, and gave us a thorough overview of the world of Belize. The Mayan ruins site is extremely clean and well looked after. Another guide took over for just this section... 更多
Never seen Mayan ruins before and dubious about the place, but my concerns were ill founded. This is a well maintained, lovely, relaxing place, not overly crowded. Our guide gave us a good outline of life in Belize and an insight into the Mayan times. Well worth the trip. Make sure you haggle the price with any taxi driver/guide.
If this is the only way to see some Mayan ruins, it's worth the visit. There are 2 large buildings, plus multiple smaller ones (or remnants), and some manicured lawns between them. Few buildings are allowed to be touched by visitors. Sadly, the structures were found from locals removing the stones for construction, while the buildings were still covered with... 更多
We took the city tour with Altun Ha included. I could not climb the ruins but my daughter and her friend did. It was 80 in January the day we went. But if your going in the summer it may be too hot to climb. After the climb they have a short open air market selling jewelry to food. If... 更多
