Very friendly place, i believe most guides are veterans so be generous, be prepare for a long walk, although you could rent a golf car in there, don't forget your camera, comfortable shoes and water if visiting in hot weather. very close to Merced.
The Castle Air Museum has easily over 50 planes on display, including some that we've probably all heard of like the Tomcat or B52 Bomber. The plans are spread out along a winding paved walkway outdoors (be prepared to get some exercise). Each plane is fenced off but you can take a 360-view on the grass, no worries. And a... 更多
My husband and I took a family friend with her 3 teens and 1 small child. My husband is very knowledgeable and he keep them interested along with all the plaques placed along the path. The kids had a great time and wanted to come again. They especially enjoyed the small plane near the indoor museum. They could get into... 更多
It's a large park with a paved path all the way through and around it. We followed the arrows, reading off each one of the planes' histories out loud from the brochure provided. The admission price may seem a bit much to some, but I thought it was worth it, and maybe a little more. We donated money on the... 更多
What a Fantastic opportunity to see Airplanes from America's history. A bit pricey however this is a great trip that is good for the whole family! It will take several hours to see everything.
Took some of my family members there on open cockpit day. As we viewed the planes I was filled with so much pride. The vintage planes were fascinating. We were able to move around inside many of the aircraft. As we entered a very old plane sorta in the rear of the facility it dawned on me the great courage... 更多
50's era Air Force One sitting next to an SR-71!! How could you miss that? Come for open cockpit day! Cafe is a definite treat and makes the entire visit well worth the drive.
This is nice museum especially for people like military air forces and military history. I'm originally from Ukraine and learnt all the planes from books or TV shows. It was fantastic experience to see them alive. B52 was the most impressive for me. The museum contains good shop w nice literature and souvenirs and friendly stuff. It is not also... 更多
If you are a fan of military aviation history, don't miss this. The only reason I did not give five stars is because Castle obviously does not have as much money as someplace like Pima, so there is less museum level interpretation and presentation. They were remodeling their one indoor display building when we went, so maybe if I had... 更多
OK, so we're aircraft nuts, but this place still exceeded our expectations. On the one hand some of the aircraft were unfortunately looking a little dilapidated due to being stored outside (there's no money for hangars, sigh), but what a collection! A B-29, B-50, B-47, B-36, B-52, SR-71, Vulcan, and a lot more. The best thing though was talking to... 更多
