The Arcata Community Forest, established in 1955, is comprised of 2,350 acres of second growth redwood forest. It is just a few blocks from the edge of HSU and can be reached by car at the east end of either 11th or 14th Streets. One of Arcata's best features are the well-marked trails through a beautiful redwood forest, all located on the east edge of town. Easily located for parking at a variety of trailheads. I hike there regularly throughout the year, enjoying the seasonal changes and get good exercise on the trails (elevation and length optional, given your preferred routes).

I really enjoy going to this area. The large field is nice for picnics and relaxing, and the surrounding woods are just magnificent. A perfect spot to hike!
The area surrounding Arcata is truly beautiful. In fact, you can't go wrong at all along this part of the coast. There are wonderful beaches, crashing surf, lagoons of quiet water, redwood forests, gorgeous little wild flowers. Everything to soothe the soul and improve your spirit!
If I lived there, I would go to this park every day and take a wonderful walk along the extra... 更多
