After spending time reviewing things to do in Bayfield, Ashland and Washburn thought we would have a lot of options for travel w/11,14 and 70 year old. Not. Maritime Museum was a highpoint. Took ferry to Madeline Island, pack lunch as we did nothing else there. Saw cliffs, went swimming on beach at island. Can see the same thing many... 更多
Appreciate the ability to walk around the scenic area, shop in the small quaint stores, taking boat tour, and hearing about the island history, and then transporting our bike on a ferry to go to MADELINE ISLAND and learned about the island, its owners, the burnt Tom's Bar,and also about the ART SCHOOL AND AND THEIR COTTAGE ACCOMMODATIONS ON SITE,... 更多
This is a must-see! My mom, boyfriend, and I visited. We loved the 3-hour Grand Tour. The sea caves are gorgeous. On the Grand Tour we learned a little bit about each island. Very cool.
We love the south shore of lake Superior, having made the trip every summer for the last four years. We especially like staying in the little community of Bayfield. We have enjoyed several boat tours, day hikes, berry picking, and the kayaking. There is never enough time to do everything, so we keep coming back. The back roads near the... 更多
My wife and I rented two sea kayaks from Apostle Islands Kayaks and spent 4 days kayaking through the islands and backcountry camping on the shores of Lake Superior in August 2015. The sea caves were very interesting and the water was so unbelievably clear. We had a great time on Sand and Raspberry Islands! The park staff was very... 更多
It goes to show, you don't have to live our State to find God's gift of beauty!! Went on to boat trips to see the Islands and Caves. Great pictures were taken if we must say so ourselves!! Stayed at a number of hotels, Quality Inn (Ashland, WI), Hampton Inn Marquette MI), and AmercInn (Munising, MI).
There are several islands in the National Lakeshore to explore. Madeline Island is not officially a part of the National Lakeshore, but I'm sure everyone just puts it in there with the rest of them! It is well populated during the summer months with a few hardy souls living there year round. The other islands are pretty close together, one... 更多
Well organized, great tour with a perfect amount of history, information /jokes shared with the group, great team on board to assist with the tour. We enjoyed this very much, the team takes you through the islands and explains it all. Saw the sea caves on Devil's Island which was fantastic. Great music and old tunes played which got the... 更多
My wife and I spent the morning kayaking the ice caves in Bayfield, WI and then took a 3 hour boat tour of all of the Apostle Islands in the evening. I would recommend that everyone add the Apostle Islands to their bucket list of sights to see.
We have been traveling to the Apostle Islands for the past 30 years. It is never disappointing in natural beauty. If you want something like the Wisconsin Dells this is not it. It is not a commercialized area. It has local charm and beauty. From Washburn on there is not chain hotels, stores or restaurants. It's locally owned. Each park... 更多
