The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is centered in the 400 block...

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is centered in the 400 block of E Street, NW, and is the nation's monument to law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. Dedicated on October 15, 1991, the Memorial honors federal, state and local law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and protection of our nation and its people. The Memorial features two curving, 304-foot-long blue-gray marble walls. Carved on these walls are the names of more than 20,000 officers who have been killed in the line of duty throughout U.S. history, dating back to the first known death in 1791. Unlike many other memorials in Washington, DC, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is ever-changing: new names of fallen officers are added to the monument each spring, in conjunction with National Police Week in May. The National Law Enforcement Museum will be built across the street, with construction scheduled to commence this spring. In the meantime, we offer a guided 90-minute walking tour in the heart of DC, learning about presidential assassinations, attempted assassinations, and the officers who work behind the scenes protecting our president. As the family of a retired police officer, it was rather disappointing. It's a nice thought but it has been built on top of a subway station with the elevators right in the middle.

Passed by before but never really took the time to soak in the meaning of the memorial. Happen to walk by it again from a walk from Union Station to White House area but this time stopped and reflected the purpose of memorial in today's environment which has special meaning. The Fall Colors and the National Museum Building provides light... 更多

Today is the 4th anniversary of the senseless murder of not only a comrade but also a family friend, Deputy Scott Ward. Our family came to pay our respects to not only Scott but to all our fallen heroes at the National Law Enforcement Memorial. Too many names...

This is a moving memorial to those who have perished defending us domestically. As an LEO family we have lost several friends in the last few years. We were very moved to be able to find their names on the wall. While we were there, the policy unity tour was there to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the memorial. It... 更多

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is a very well-done, serene, and honorable testament to public servants throughout our Nation's history. This includes a directory of each officer to loose his/her life in the line of duty, and directing to where the name is inscribed in the memorial. The design of the memorial is very well done, very somber and... 更多

Impactful and respectful is the best way to describe the countless names listed on the panels! This memorial should be viewed as much as any other DC memorial! A very well designed memorial and I look forward to the opening of the museum... A visit to the gift store a few blocks away is STRONGLY suggested!

It's worth a visit to pay respect and honor those lost. I come by here regularly when going to the courthouse. Very pleasant and peaceful memorial. It's accessible by the metro's red line - Judiciary Square.

This is a must see for law enforcement officers. Very few officers are not aware of this memorial. The memorial has the name of all peace officers who have fallen in the line of duty. Stop by and pay your respects

in a city full of Memorials the Law Enforcement one is overlooked by most but worth the effort to go and pay tribute to all Law Officers everywhere

It is nice but i think it should be bigger and better. The store was a couple blocks away, for the time being. When the new museum is built, it will be nicer but the monument itself should give people a second thought of all the cops who die protecting them. A lot of other soldiers and do-nothing politicians get... 更多
