About a 15 minute walk from the Anacostia Metro station. The tour was fun! We viewed the whole house in about 30 minutes. We thought twice about coming here, as it required a drive, which we avoid in DC if possible. We are very glad we made the trip, however. This is a gem of a National Historic Site. Not on the mall, but interesting site to visit. Frederick Douglass's story is an inspiring one told through a brief video and house tour. Many of the artifacts and most of the furniture is original ( preserved by his second wife's). In addition, the house is beautifully set on a hill overlooking DC. My hubby and I lived less than 5 miles from this place and we finally went last weekend. Make sure you reserve your spot on the as you cannot just walk in and walk around inside.
