The height of fruit in Hood River is during September and October! We stopped by over the labor day weekend. It's early season and apples and pears are just starting to come out, but there is lots of summer fruit and produce including corn, onions, peaches, berries, jams, local honey, tomatoes, etc. Each year we pick up a guide and... 更多
We are very excited to visit the Fruit Loom, but we arrived to early on the season. They just open the stands in the first weekend of June. Maybe next time. (they are closed for the winter)
We began the Fruit Loop with an easy hike around Lost Lake, lunched at Apple Valley BBQ in Parkland, and then stopped at a handful of places along the Fruit Loop. We picked lavender, tried a flight of hard ciders, chose some fruit in season. There are many wineries only the route. Check for fruits of the season and times... 更多
this is a gorgeous drive. If you have an extra day in Portland to go up the Gorge to Hood River and the Fruit Loop, DO IT. especially if you are lucky enough to visit during the springtime when the blossoms are on all the trees. It's a sight you won't forget. In the summer, visit some of the fruit... 更多
Beautiful, relaxing, easy drive. Vineyards, orchards, one thousand shades of green! Wine was delicious and the best tree ripened fruit you will ever taste!!!
We didn't know about the Fruit Loop prior to visiting the Mt Hood/Gorge area in late June. Nice surprise when my wife talks the kids and me into visiting. We stopped by Lavender Valley (we were a little early to do the U pick). Picked 5 lbs of cherries at Draper Girls. It was very enjoyable even on a warm... 更多
The brochure makes it look better than it is. It was nice seeing all the orchards. The top two things to see is the Alpaca farm and Hood River lavender farm. The alpacas were adorable and the lady there was very informative. You can feed them too. The lavender farm was so different. Real lavender does not smell like that... 更多
This is an annual summer daytrip for my family and every year it gets better. Packard Orchards is our favorite stop. They have amazing donut peaches, cherries and many other fruits. Their bakery offers the best fruit pies, cookies and scones. Be sure to taste some of their honey blends - the chili pepper honey is delicious. The view of... 更多
Even without visiting one winery, the drive was fantastic with multiple points to take in the views. We only used our Google Maps and drove around all the side streets along the farms and up-country roads. It was a nice relaxing afternoon to take in the sites of Mt. Hood, Mt Adams and the various farms.
