Wandering downtown St. Louis and ran across this old church the other day. I believe this is the oldest building in St. Louis and you pass right by it on the way to the Arch. The church doesn't look like much from the outside, but is quite beautiful on the inside. There is no entrance fee.
From the outside, this church is a bit unassuming, particularly since it is adjacent to the Gateway Arch site. However, it is magnificent inside. Oldest building in St. Louis. Is Greek Revival Architecture. Awe and reverence-inspiring church. Conveniently happened to be walking back and there was not service going on. The building was empty, but open for visitors.
This is really a neat place to visit. We were fortunate to have one of church personal tell about the cathedral. Many of the statues were made of zinc and then covered with plaster.
