As Albert and Elisabeth streets are the main Art Nouveau venues in Riga, they're both out of the Old town. Jauniela is the same, but in the very center of the Old town, just by the imposing Dom Church. Really nice buildings to be seen, but look up.
Riga is blessed with a rich inventory of historical buildings. Some of them have so much going on the you get dizzy trying to see it all. Other buildings will make you laugh at it all.
Jauniela is a street between and a block from both St Mary’s Dome Cathedral and Town Hall, in Old Town. It is renowned for the architecture and Art Nouveau buildings, second only to Alberta iela. Just behind the City Hall, this street epitomizes Vecriga. Hotels Neiburg and Justus, some good restaurants and bars like YOLO and Spot. Just watch out for groups of tourists admiring the facade of Hotel Neiburg.
the building is well maintained by the owners, the idea to expand the style to the next building makes it even better, and it's a good puzzle of little details.
This street is in the old town area and much closer than Alberta street (lela) however, the Jauniela has less contents than the Alberta. In my opinion if you have time, you may catch a taxi to Alberta first and walk down to the old town area.
This charming narrow street is one of the nicest in Riga. Most of it is a walking extension that links from the old town to the St Mary cathedral. It is exceptionally artistic.
