As our flight back to the UK was not until late in the evening we purchased tickets for the matinee performance of Die Fledermaus. The building is apparently based on the Bolshoi in Moscow and whilst quite small was acoustically superb. There was a screen above the stage which had Latvian and English subtitles thus enabling you to follow the... 更多
My first experience of a ballet will not be my last. Travel guides said that a visit here was a must. Our first night in Riga coincided with the last night of the Nutcracker performance. The opera house is spectacular. The ballet itself was brilliant and the music was very memorable. So glad we got tickets and at only £20... 更多
A building that caters for the Arts with some panache. Huge. You can watch Opera at a fraction of the price. Just remember to book ahead. Ticket Office is hidden away on the left hand side.
This terrific opera house is in a great setting. Just when you've finished your Old town sightseeing and step out of the Old town, you'll bump onto this elegant edifice. It's in the Vermanes park secluded by trees and greenery and right by the scenic Pilsetas canal of Daugava river. It seems recently renovated in pure white facade, and reminds... 更多
Just returned from the theatre after watching the Nutcracker ballet, it was absolutely superb . Many children with parents etc. , this was certainly not a distraction , you could see the look in their eyes at the wonder of such a beautiful performance .
We booked tickets to see Peer Gynt mainly to see the inside of this building. What we were entertained with was a ballet of stunning brilliance. The standard of the dancers, musicians and settings was as good as can be seen in the 'major' ballet companies of Europe at a fraction of the price. In fact, we worked it out... 更多
Nice building, both outside and inside. If you have the chance, buyt tickets for the opera. It is cheap, and you can expect great performances. Check the agenda in advance.
I wanted to see the inside of the theater but there were no tours during my stay. So I purchased a 3rd row balccony seat for 21 euros (there were only about 10 seats left in the theater!) THe interior was gorgeous and the performance quite good. I am not into opera, but I did enjoy it. And I was... 更多
This is probably one of the very few operas in Europe where you can enjoy high-class ballet and opera at pop-culture prices. I try to visit as frequently as possible. Beautiful interior. In summers, you can also enjoy your cup of coffee or glass of wine on the Opera House's balcony with a beautiful view of the small park in... 更多
Watched a modern version of Bolero at the National Opera House and it was amazing. The building is stunning and the performance lived up to expectations. I was a bit wary of the dress code, as stipulated on the Opera House's website, so wore a suit without a tie. Although most of the audience were smartly dressed, there were plenty... 更多
