Museum gives a good background into the history of Ljubiana and has a number of interesting exhibits. In the basement there is some old roman ruins and antiquities that should not be missed. It is located near the river and has narrative in English to allow you to get an understading on the history of this fine city
Like so much in Ljubljana, the City Museum (Mestni Musej) is small and high quality. Our kids like it because of a booklet they get upon entering. They go through the museum looking for frogs, solving puzzles and interacting with mini exhibits. Going through the Roman dig, seeing the world's oldest wheel and axle, stuff from the Yugoslavian era, passing... 更多
This was my first visit to this charming, well arranged museum near the university, and the old part of the city. In addition to the history of Slovenia as it continues to develop as an independent nation, you can also learn about its remarkable past where over time at least 10 different nations claimed control over this territory and the... 更多
The City Museum of Ljubljana is just another example of excellence in Ljubljana. The displays are visually interesting and engaging. The information panels are well written and informative. Even if you aren't much of a museum person you will come away from this museum with a sense of the city's history and a better understanding of some of what you... 更多
There are some really interesting displays here which make the best use of the material. In the basement there is the Roman section with a real section of Roman road which you can see in cross section and also a Roman sewer. As you ascend the stairs the story of the city comes up to date with independence and issues... 更多
This is modern museum with fresh, vivid collections from old times: prehistoric, antique and new periods till today. They are preparing very interesting exhibitions as about Water in the city. In the summer they also have perfect exhibition – photographs of Sebastiano Salgado. Place is worth of visit each year. They also have fine animations for children, concerts and other... 更多
We saw a great exhibition of the pictures taken by Sebastiao Salgado. We also saw the Faces of Ljubljana . We could not spend too long as we had a lot planned that day.
Small, well presented museum, showing the highlights of Ljubljana from prehistory to modern era, passing through Roman Emona. As a plus, the ticket allows entrance also to two archeological sites within the old Roman town, showing remnants of a large villa and of an early Christian worship site. In addition, there are many free sites related to Emona still visible... 更多
The Salgado exhibition is incredible! The photos are of remote places, tribal people, wildlife and beautiful landscapes. The photographs are stunning and the exhibition is very well put together, across the city museum and the Jakopic gallery (just a short walk away). A must see!
We went to this museum because of the Sebastiao Salgado exhibit of photography but got so much more. The permanent exhibit really is about Ljubljana and Slovenia's history starting with the Romans and some archaeological finds--it is better organized than some of the other museums. Very interesting. The Salgado exhibit is world-class. It portrays great animals in the wild, isolated... 更多
