It is a museum with an old part - beautiful staircase and an addition, very modern, but fits exactly to the old part. There are some excellent art works, specially the four great sloven impressionist painter works are remarkable. A must visit.
As an art historian it is refreshing to see something new! The large collection is amazing! The building complements the collection beautifully. I was so sad that I didn't have time to admire it well but I managed to see the whole collection. With every room you have information on the period and how art was effected. The Impressionists are... 更多
It's a very fine building, and a fitting setting in which to display some intriguing and high quality paintings. Everyone will have their favourites, but do not miss The Artist's Mother by Janez Subic, and Double Self-Portrait by Ivan Vavpotic.
so much to see but my favourite painting was THE JUDGEMENT OF SOLOMON.everything was well set out and presented.we lost all sense of time as we wondered through the gallery.the cost is half price for senior citizens.
Has no notable masters but enjoyable to see something different and the local culture. Some of the works were very good. It was quiet so refreshing not to be surrounded by hoards of people.
If you thought Impressionism lived in Paris, you'll be pleasantly surprised to discover a bunch of new favorite artists who painted in Slovenia. I was blown away by the art in the rooms devoted to their paintings, but this museum is a pleasant walk through the history of art in Slovenia from religious images to everyday life scenes to gorgeous... 更多

The art on display includes ancient sculptures (wood and stone) in addition to the range of paintings. The 'modern' area in the middle of the gallery is interesting architecturally, but we found the "art... 更多
This is a beautifully designed (architecturally) museum that gives one an excellent overview of Slovenian art from about 1600-present. No-it doesn't have "big name" artists, that's why it's called the NATIONAL Gallery! Why in the world someone would advise skipping this museum because it doesn't have "masters" like the Louvre is beyond me. The entire point is to showcase Slovenian... 更多
The National Gallery is one of the most wonderful museums I have ever visited in Ljubljana... There is also a replica of Fountain of Three Carniolan Rivers inside the building. Calm, well-designed, silent...
