so much to see but my favourite painting was THE JUDGEMENT OF SOLOMON.everything was well set out and presented.we lost all sense of time as we wondered through the gallery.the cost is half price for senior citizens.
Has no notable masters but enjoyable to see something different and the local culture. Some of the works were very good. It was quiet so refreshing not to be surrounded by hoards of people.
If you thought Impressionism lived in Paris, you'll be pleasantly surprised to discover a bunch of new favorite artists who painted in Slovenia. I was blown away by the art in the rooms devoted to their paintings, but this museum is a pleasant walk through the history of art in Slovenia from religious images to everyday life scenes to gorgeous... 更多
The gallery has just had a modern 'extension', achieved by joining the original gallery to an adjacent building with an enormous glass atrium and open space. The art on display includes ancient sculptures (wood and stone) in addition to the range of paintings. The 'modern' area in the middle of the gallery is interesting architecturally, but we found the "art... 更多
This is a beautifully designed (architecturally) museum that gives one an excellent overview of Slovenian art from about 1600-present. No-it doesn't have "big name" artists, that's why it's called the NATIONAL Gallery! Why in the world someone would advise skipping this museum because it doesn't have "masters" like the Louvre is beyond me. The entire point is to showcase Slovenian... 更多
The National Gallery is one of the most wonderful museums I have ever visited in Ljubljana... There is also a replica of Fountain of Three Carniolan Rivers inside the building. Calm, well-designed, silent...
Although I have been many times in Ljubljana, I find this gallery in this visit. Entering fee is 7 euros, and there are many interesting statues and painting which are not famous but worth seeing. Gallery is not so big but well made mixtures of paintings and sculptures in big open space. There are big old paintings from old to... 更多
This is a great place to spend up to 4 hours, but can be done in 1 hour as well. A place is a combination of modern and fien de siecle architecture. One can get there an interesting overview of art from 13th century on with special attention to some famous Slovenian paniters. Nice small gift shop and cafe as... 更多
Not only the pictures are Worth a visit, but also the cafeteria to eat good cakes and rest to read books, and the very well built edifice.
There are just two big galleries with pictures in Slovenia. National Gallery and Kostanjevica. You will not find big international names in National Gallery but collection leads you from Gothic period to the last century. You will need about two hours inside. They have small coffee shop and some souvenirs. Good for families and in bad weather.
