Built in 1915 by a visionary developer to attract buyers to his housing development on top of the hill. Rattles and clanks a bit but quite fun if you're up to it. Climb the towers for a great view of the town and coast. Can view the mountains on a clear day I'm told
This tunnel up to the tower is one of the oldest. Its surely worth the walk into the lift, which is also old. A unique ride for sure. Do it people!
Well worth the time to visit, walk thru the ground level tunnel to the elevator or start at the top of the hill & come down in the elevator. It's great for all ages. Great views at the top. It's a very old historic part of Wanganui.

The elevator, which costs all of $2 is at the end of a well maintained tunnel. It goes up to the top where you can go up the two towers. We were blessed with views of Mt Taranaki and Mt Ruapehu and the South Island
