After having visited Wanganui many times, this was our first visit to the gardens. It is a really beautiful place with various walkways. There are toilets. We can only imagine how much more beautiful the gardens would be in Spring Summer when more flowers are out. The gardens are about 9 kms out of town on Rapanui Road. You can... 更多
I did not know this place existed. Motel Owner suggested it to me as he was aware that I loved nature. Boy ,this place was heaven!!!! As soon as I drove throgh the gates I felt just fabulous. All sorts of little vistas to explore. A large Garden but a good portion was closed off at the bottom for maintenance.... 更多
Depending on the season these hidden away gardens are stunning. Well worth the 10 minute drive out from Whanganui. There is more than the gardens with a winding track / drive way taking you to the bottom of a hill with picnic areas, trees, sculptures as well as toilets in the grounds. Gates close at dusk. Great venue for out... 更多
Nice drive out to the Bason Botanical gardens. We got a wonderful photo of Mt Egmont on the way out. Loved the orchards in the hot houses. The stairs and sculptures and free bbqs make this place a wonderful asset to Wanganui.
We called in on the way from the Kai Iwi beach. Just drove around, did not get out of the car. Mainly trees and shrubs. Would be a nice place to walk around and spend a few hours on a sunny day. Some sections are fairly steep. We did not see any flowers on our visit. Would be nice to... 更多
We've been here as a family group on picnics, there is plenty of open space for kids and adults alike to set up the cricket or touch and run around. There are bbq's & picnic tables and gorgeous little spots that you can set yourselves up in. The actual gardens are a visual delight and great place to take older... 更多
A visit to these gardens provide us with a break from travelling, a time to quietly contemplate and a feast for the eyes in the flowers, trees, lake and sculptures. The loop road was shut while we were there, but that didn't detract from being able to enjoy the peacefulness and beauty as we strolled around the gardens. We noted... 更多
The park was a lovely surprise to come across on our way to Kai Iwi Beach. We only drove through it but still thought it was really worthwhile to visit. There were several groups picnicking in the spacious areas. Lovely examples of peaceful environs amidst trees, plants, flowers and green open spaces.
Well worth the drive to find these gardens. You can drive quietly through them, or walk selectively in areas of your choice. We picnicked there and it was gorgeous. Probably a bit busier on weekends - it ought to be popular. Glad our hosts at Siena Motor Lodge recommended them to us.
I love the gardens. I used to take my elderly mother there and just drive round them so she didn't have to do any walking. She could see the plants and wildlife and loved the tranquility. On this visit, I went hunting for a Geocache (and found it through the clues, not the co-ordinates). Plenty of space for my grandchildren... 更多
