Blackbutt Nature Reserve is a small nature reserve a short drive (6km) from Newcastle. Whilst it doesn’t have the variety that some larger wildlife attraction have in Australia it does have a big plus point – it’s free! We visited one afternoon and it was a great way to spend a couple of hours. We saw koalas, wombats and wallbies... 更多
Great picnic spot for families. Paid parking :(. Animal enclosures, including Kangaroos and koalas. Perfect spot for a game of cricket or football with the family.
This is a fantastic place to have a picnic with the family. There are animals to see as well as a childrens playground. There are tracks for bushwalking plus a level grassed area for ball games or frisbee etc. parking available
Blackbutt Reserve is a little wildlife gem within 10 minutes drive of the Newcastle CBD . For anyone with overseas visitors and not wanting to do the full Outback Trek this is the ideal compromise.. Koalas, Kangaroos, Wombats, Wallabies and a walk through bird aviary with almost every native species you would encounter in The Bush. The reserve has a... 更多
Visited with 2 teenage children and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of animals and beautiful birds. The park is well maintained and it's free! (just a small price for parking). Large grassed areas and picnic facilities as well as a large playground. you could spend an hour or a whole day! Definitely worth a visit.
Situated a short distance out of the city, but in the inner suburbs of Newcastle, it gives you a real feeling of the bush. There are various walks, none of which are over long, but a couple can be a wee bit strenuous if you have overeaten during your BBQ or picnic. Both activities are well catered for. The animals... 更多
I went with my family here and it was a pretty good afternoon. Animals to see, playgrounds to play, big ovals, places to sit, places to cook, toilets, food, it had a lot! Car parking is a bit limited so be prepared.
We like the walking trails, playground for small kids, bbq areas and animal enclosures. The koala centre is a favourite with the kids and they like to feed the ducks and swans at the big ponds.
This place has a great kids park. And you get to see some wildlife as well which the kids Just Love. You won't be able to do everything in one day as it is very large area to cover so I am going to go back again. And its free admission. Just pay your parking ticket though. I wish it... 更多
Well-maintained and beautiful. After returning from Halong Bay after an wonderful experience with Galaxy Cruise, we took our son here for the weekend and he absolutely loved it, even this was the third time already. There were a lot of open spaces with good lake view, making this an excellent spot for camping.
The reserve is very beautiful, a very large open space with lakes, green fields and spaces for barbecue and picnic. My only advice is regarding the entrances. If you go by car your GPS will lead to three different entrances. The first and most obvious option will guide you to a place with parking lots and no animals or exhibitions... 更多
