It was a windy afternoon when we visited so the beach was quite empty and there were some dramatic storm clouds coming in but there were many people walking along the path of the lighthouse. Lovely view from the point.
The beach was nice, but current was strong, not many swimming or surfing. Lots of construction going on up and down the pedestrian walkway.
Arguably the best beach in Newcastle. Just a stonesthrow away from Nobbys you will find Horeseshoe Beach, Nobbys Lighthouse, the Breakwater, Foreshore & Fort Scratchley. There are also a number of interesting old buildings, not forgetting the Art Deco Newcastle Baths just a short stroll away.
There was sand and surf, Beach volleyball facilities, the beach was manned - which is important if your not a usual beach goer. There were some nice grass spots for families if the beach got too much and there was lots of room for board riders and swimmers so they didn't have to mix. It seemed to be pretty good.... 更多
Due to the prevailing wind today the surf was huge at Nobbys Beach which is patrolled. The beach was not crowded and those on the beach were mostly from teenage to senior citizens.
Always a popular beach that we have visited many times, good for kids too!! Nice walk along the foreshore path that leads from here around to the ocean baths.
The east coast of Australia has a multitude of great beaches. Nobbys Beach is a typical example of these beaches. Great sand and surf but some caution is needed.
