So far the most beautiful place inland that I've seen. The hike we picked was amazing, we took the 1.5k (3k return) Mickey Creek trail since we could only stay a few hours on our way up to Cape York. Partway in there is a side trail that goes to the right with a gorge 200m away. An older couple... 更多
Took our camper van into the National Park where we stayed for four glorious nights. Campsites are a good size, not too crowded. So very relaxing! Did a few short walks, and then talked the big walk (14km) to the Art Gallery, Amphitheatre, Moss Gardens and Wards Canyon - just amazing...and exhausting. We had a great time here and would... 更多
The beauty of the landscape and the sense of timelessness that is here is deeply moving. Knowing that we were present in a place where aboriginal people had left their stories thousands of years ago was quite humbling. The variation in the side gorges gives a different experience in each one and should not be missed.
We have our own Uluru in Queensland. We have been to Uluru before and have done all the tours offered there and followed up with more of our own walk and drives. They were great in their own right. However, the Carnarvon Gorge is as good and as spectacular, if not better. For example, check out the Gorge during sunrise... 更多
This place is great. We went for a late afternoon walk and saw heaps of wallabies and kangaroos. We saw birds and waterways. We only did a short walk to the rock pool and the nature trail, but what a treat! We also went back the following morning to the first walk on the left which is 500m in to... 更多
We had to do the gorge in one day so it was really gruelling. We did about 25km of uphill down dale stairs and river crossings. We started at 7.30am and came out at 4.30pm. On Simon, the tour guides advise, we walked straight to the top (Big Bend) and then on our way back down we did all the... 更多
We walked over 24,000 steps (according to the fitbit). This National Park is amazing. The moss gardens, amphitheatre and Wards Gorge were well worth the trek, lots count of the number of stairs we climbed! Bird life was amazing and it was so nice to hear their sounds rather than traffic. Lots of kangaroos and wallabies all quite comfortable with... 更多
A must see for everyone. We stayed at the Takarraka caravan park which was excellent but all facilities in the vicinity were excellent. We did the 14 walk on our first day. Good advice to walk to your furthest point which was Wards Canyon in our case. The Amphitheatre, Art Gallery and Moss Gardens were all breathtaking!!! Highly recommended!!
Loved Carnarvon Gorge. The walk along the gorge was fabulous, so many sites to see, and all very different. It's an easy walk along the gorge, relatively flat, some of the side trips which you don't want to miss out on, takes a little effort. We didn't rush and the walk took 6 hours, we only went as far as... 更多
Again another place on my list to visit. We stayed at Takarakka Bush Resort and they gave a talk at 5pm with a little history on the gorge and the best time to visit during the day. We left early for our walk into the gorge (glad we heeded their advise). Advise was to walk as far as we could... 更多
