This beautifully kept cemetery, built on steep hillsides, begs the question if those interred are buried standing up. Interesting to see the various religious sections, some across the highway as you make your way from the Botanical Garden back to the wharf. Literature available as you enter from the top.
We were passing by this cemetery as we walked in Wellington and were enchanted by the sights we saw there. Worth a visit if you are in Wellington.
Nice to stroll through the pracefulness of Wellington history, especially on a hot day. It is a chance to reflect on a by gone day and get lost in your thoughts. The cemetary is on both sides of the motorway so do cross and walk through the other side.
Snuck in the CBD and spanning across a highway. Plenty of history and well maintained. Visit the chapel which gives a great history of the cemetery. Look for Richard Seddon's memorial, NZs longest serving Prime Minister at the top.
In the CBD and divided by the highway, this is a surprisingly pretty, peaceful and interesting spot to visit. Continue the walk from here up to the botanic gardens if you like. The inscriptions are fascinating and a reminder of what things were like not all that long ago.
Stumbled upon this place of history. Loved the church with the historical info in it which wasn't too much to read. Had a brief wonder around. It was peaceful as we were the only ones there. Worth a walk around.
The entrance is right across from the Sofitel where I was staying, which made visiting very convenient. There's a tiny museum in a chapel on the... 更多

The graves and history present a graphic picture of the early settlers' experiences in Wellington. So many notable people significant in the establishment of the colony are here. Many of the settlers endured great hardship, disease and... 更多
