Walking is really the best way to go in Wellington. You can easily walk all around the bays and all the way to Mirimar/Seatoun with no trouble. The city centre is mostly flat, which is a blessing because the burbs are very hilly! There are lots of well spaced toilets everywhere too.
We took a walking tour of much of the CBD including the waterfront walkways. Our guide provided all kinds of interesting historical and cultural insights as well as some amount of historical gossip! A fun way to spend 2+ hours.

Wellington has walkways down to a science. The walks are paved and well signed to help you get from point A to point B. They are a great way to see Wellington. Take the time to enjoy the walk from the cable car stop at the botanical gardens, through the gardens and back downhill to the city center. This walk... 更多
Wellington has a great waterfront with great restaurants, entertainment, boat rental and also sorts of fun things happening. They had live free musical performances going on while we were there. They had people diving off towers in the docks area. Fun way to spend an hour walking to or from TePapa museum which is right on the waterfront.
