Nga Taonga Sound & Vision is the operating name for the New Zealand Archive of Film, Television and Sound Nga Taonga Whitiahua Me Nga Taonga Korero.
The archive was formed by the amalgamation of the New Zealand Film Archive Nga Kaitiaki O Nga Taonga Whitiahua, Sound Archives Nga Taonga Korero and the Television New Zealand Archive. Together the film, television and radio collections are cared for by specialist staff, and in dialogue with each other tell richer stories about New Zealand and its peoples.
Nga Taonga Sound & Vision holds a large and diverse collection of moving image and audio items, along with related documentation. The collections span Aotearoa's sound and moving image history - from the earliest days of cinema, audio recording and television, to contemporary film, television, advertisements, music videos, computer games and radio productions.
The Nga Taonga Sound & Vision Wellington head office has weekly cinema screenings from Wednesday to Saturday nights, a cafe, a gallery space and a searchable online catalogue and medialibrary viewing area - it's a great place to spend a few hours or even a couple of weeks.
